Kairi

Longtime friend of Riku and Sora, and one of the Seven Princesses with ties to the Keys and Keyholes. She had lost her memories of Sora, and after they returned, she wanted to see him, more and more with every passing day. Falling through an unexplored hole in the darkness, she arrived in Twilight Tow and befriended Hayner, Pence and Olette before being captured by Axel. Kairi is fervently hoping to meet up with Sora once more. -Jiminy's Journal

Her Story

Kairi's role in the game starts out in Kingdom Hearts, with her friends Sora, Riku, Selphie, Tidus and Wakka in Destiny Islands. She and her friends, Sora and Riku, were collecting items and building a raft, so they can set off and see the other worlds around them. One night, evil creatures known as the Heartless invades their humble island and takes Kairi away. After that night, her and her friends were all seperated.

We meet Kairi again when Sora finds her unconscious in the Neverlands on Captain Hook's ship. Riku takes her away because he believed that Sora still betrayed him and says that he'll be the one to save her.

Sora finally reaches the castle of Hollow Bastion and ends up finding Kairi still in the same state. Ansem tells him that Kairi's heart was within Sora. Finding no other way, Sora sacrifices his own heart so that Kairi will get hers back. Kairi awakens to only discover that Sora became a Heartless. Sora soon dwelled closer and closer to the darkness, but Kairi interferes and embraces him. Her strong connection and feelings for Sora was the light that brought Sora back to the way he was.

They soon leave Hollow Bastion and return to Traverse Town. In the underground water tunnel, Sora and Kairi finally have a conversation and Sora made a promise that he'll return to Kairi once he saves Riku from the darkness.

In the ending of Kingdom Hearts, Sora and Kairi reunite again, but they had to seperate once more because Riku is still yet to come back to them. Kairi returns to Destiny Islands and awaits for her friends to come back to her.

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories soon follows, but Kairi only appears in Sora's memories. She soon forgets about Sora because when Naminé rearranged Sora's memories, everyone that was connected to Sora lost all their memories of him.

Her story continues in Kingdom Hearts II and Kairi first appears with Selphie. They seems to be walking home from school. Kairi asks if she remembers about the boys that they used to play with. Selphie only remembers Riku, but Kairi tells her that she knows for sure that there was another boy. Kairi then tells Selphie that she won't return to the island that they used to play in until she remembers that boy's name. They continued walking, when suddenly she gets a headache and hears a voice. It was Roxas was calling out for Naminé but Kairi responded instead. Roxas lets out a laugh because he knew who Kairi was, stating that she's the girl that Sora liked. She asks Roxas for his name and then Sora's voice appears and tells her that it starts with an "s." Kairi walks up to the shore and takes a out a bottled message.

The next time we see Kairi again was when she decided that she'll leave and look for Sora. A man in a black cloak appears before her and it turns out to be Axel. Axel tells her that he knows where Sora is and he can take her there and holds out his hand. Pluto then barks and runs up to Kairi (who's been following Axel the whole time) and snaps her back into reality. Dusks appear and a portal along with them. She tells Axel off and enters. Kairi and Pluto then reached an abyss with Nobody symbols decorating the walls and floors. They see another light and enter.

It turns out Kairi ended up in Twilight Town, with Hayner, Pence and Olette in the Usual Spot. She tells them her story and that she is looking for Sora. Axel appears suddenly and takes Kairi away.

We find out that Kairi was imprisoned in The World That Never Was. Naminé comes to the rescue but Saïx confronts them. Another man appears and Naminé says that Riku can take it from here. Kairi was surprised and walks up to him. She takes off his cloak only to reveal Ansem's face. Soon enough Kairi finds Sora when her and Riku go into another area the castle. She finally comes face to face with Sora, runs toward him, giving him a sudden embrace.

By the ending of the game, Kairi meets Naminé and Roxas again. Kairi thanks Naminé who decides that she'll accept her fate as a Nobody. After the final battle against Xemnas, Kairi and her friends Sora and Riku return to their home Destiny Islands, and are finally together again.
